Yusuke Urameshi, dying in a car accident while saving a child and being resurrected to work as a Spirit Detective. His initial missions involve recovering stolen artifacts from demons, which leads to him meeting and later teaming up with some of his antagonists, including the delinquent Kazuma Kuwabara, the plant-manipulating Kurama, and the fire-wielding Hiei. The season concludes with the Spirit Detective team defeating the "Saint Beasts," a group of demons causing chaos in the human world.
